How to Sculpt a Head Out of Clay:

Did you know I have a YouTube Channel? That’s where I post videos of my projects from time to time. Most videos are about my process. People always seem to want to know more about how I make my sculptures. I just posted one about sculpting a head which I made around Valentine’s Day and used it as a demo piece when I presented to Wellington Art Society members’ meeting back in February.

In the video, I show you the whole process beginning to end. It is sped up and condensed into a 25 min video, but it does show all the steps. I took me a long time to complete the video because when I finished the head, it was still leather hard. It took me several weeks and a few firings to complete the sculpture. Now the video ends with a nice view of the head completely finished with underglazes, wire, Swarovski crystals and other embellishments.
